Loud and Proud the local song and dance group going through one of their lively routines. Bulford shows how to have fun A
PET show, live music, stalls, competitions and three bouncy castles
meant young and old had a good time at Bulford Fun Day on Saturday. The recreation ground was full of people taking advantage of the dry, if not very warm, weather to stroll around the stalls and enjoy the entertainment. Members
of the Wessex Military Band, resplendent in their red uniforms, made
a joyful noise with some rousing marches. And
Loud and Proud, a group of eight to 16-year-olds, belted out some of
the latest pop hits to the delight of the younger members of the audience. The
group, which has 30 members, was founded by Wayne and Sue Gardner, of
Durrington. The
couple’s daughter Carrie is in charge of choreography. Mrs
Gardner said the group mainly puts on concerts in village halls, but
had also done a few outdoor performances like Saturday’s. Another
popular attraction at the Fun Day was the football scoring competition,
whose profits were going to the Royal National Institute for the blind. And
celebrating a hat trick of a non-footballing kind was 15-year-old Dean
Appleby. His
dog Whisky was judged the best in show for the third year. Ben
Davis, also 15, took the award for the best pet in show with his year-old
guinea pig Pepper. Both
lads received their trophies from Fun Day Princess Georgina Howe (12)
and her maid-in-waiting Samantha Simpson (11).
