This page is
dedicated to some of the ex-members of Loud & Proud who helped to
shape the group into what it has become today. As I receive photos and
biogs I will include them, so come back often to find out what they've
been up to.
Eight members
returned for the 10th anniversary concert, although others wanted to but
couldn't make it for various reasons (working, knee popped out, living
in America - excuses, excuses).
These
are the returning ex-members, from right to left:
Roxie
Stevens, Carrie Gardner, Jess Hayden, Vanessa Edwards,
Lisa
Brocksom, Rachel Todd, Lauren Newton & Gemma Goodenough
But all ex-members
of Loud & Proud are now official members of "L&P Reprise"
(just in case
we do it again - in, say, another 10 years)
Carrie
Gardner
Our
daughter and founder member, Carrie, has now written her biog. I'm
not going to say anything more myself, on the grounds that it may
incriminate me. YOUR HONOUR.
After
leaving school I spent 2 years gaining a BTEC National Diploma in
Performing Arts whilst still continuing to help with the vocal arrangements
and choreography with Loud and Proud.
After
a year under private tuition I moved to London to study at Vocaltech
Vocal School, achieving a BTEC National 1 year diploma as a vocalist.
I
then decided to take some time out and went travelling visiting
places such as America, Australia and Thailand.
Now
I am continuing my studies at Vocaltech and have just finish my
second year of a 3 year Batchelor of Music (Hons) Degree in Popular
Music Performance.
I’m
enjoying learning about all aspects of the industry on the degree,
including programming, arranging, business, composing and all about
vocal techniques and styles, performing with other live musicians
studying at the Tech-schools.
I’m
hoping to teach after the degree but I also intend to perform in
a band.

Lisa
Brocksom
Lisa
was with the group in it's early days. At the time she lived in
Salisbury and travelled in every Monday. Let's hear what she's
been doing.
'Since
leaving Loud and Proud, I went on to get 10 GCSE's and pass 3
A Levels in Media, Drama and English. After experiencing University
for a few months I decided it wasn't for me and returned to Salisbury
to work in Chicago Rock Cafe, (now Mortimers). Alongside this
I worked for the Journal Newsgroup in the Editorial Department
but I gave all this up in the summer of 2005 to work in Paphos,
Cyprus for 6 months as a First Choice travel rep. It was an interesting
and challenging job but not really a career choice for me, so
it was back to Salisbury for the winter to work in WH Smiths but
this is when the travelling began! It started with Central America
then Cyprus again to learn to Scuba Dive, Australia was next and
last year it was New Zealand followed by a quick stop at the Great
Barrier Reef on the way home!! This year has been limited to holidays
but I have just returned from Israel on a tour with a number of
people from local churches.
You'll
be pleased to know I am settling down in my new job, printing
garments in Alderbury, where I have been for over a year now,
and my partner and I are going to stick to one week holidays for
a bit!!
As
for singing I'm afraid that it has been a bit limited to the shower
and on a Sunday morning at Church!! I'm very pleased to have been
invited back and it should be a fun evening to catch up with old
friends.

Gemma
Goodenough & Rachel Todd
Most
of the time that Gemma & Rachel were with the group it was like
they were joined at the hip, so it seems daft to split them up here.
They didn't leave the group very long ago, in fact this is the first
concert since they left, so they are the only ones who haven't missed
a concert since they left.
Now,
in their own words.
Gemma:
I'm
currently doing my GCSE's and I'm intending to stay on at South
Wilts Grammar School for the 6th form.
Have
I been singing? Does the bathroom count? My shower loves me!!!
Rachel:
Like
Gemma, I'm staying at South Wilts for the 6th form. I'm going to
be studying Drama, German, Maths and Business.
I
still attend Stagecoach and I'm performing in Joseph this summer
'08.

Jess
Hayden
Jess
is now 23 years old. Would you believe it? Um, actually, no! She
was an original founder member. In other words, she was there at
the very first meeting in our lounge. You know, it seems like yesterday
when you talk to "Lil' Jess", as we call her.
Now
in her own words:
I'm
working as Restaurant Supervisor down at good old "Little Chef"
on Countess Roundabout.
Not
a lot of singing there, but I am still performing with Loud &
Proud's adult sister group, Raise
the Roof.
Oh,
and in front of my mirror with a brush as a microphone!! |
The guys &
gals below, sadly can't make it to the show.
Emma
Bugler
lnitially
Emma was going to be with us for the show but has now taken a job
for the summer that starts on 23rd June and requires her to travel,
so she won't be able to join us.
Emma,
like Lisa, was with the group early on and travelled in every Monday.
Unlike Lisa, she lived in Boscombe Village.
Emma
joined the group after meeting Carrie while attend Salisbury's Children's
group "E-Minor".
I've
yet to receive Emma's biog but I can tell you that she has completed
teacher training and starts as an English teacher in September at
Stonehenge School.
Quite
a few former members of Loud & Proud went to Stonehenge School. |

Greg
Davis
Greg,
unfortunately, can't be with us for the show as he is travelling.
Greg was one of our few "boy" members and regular audiences
will remember his rendition of "Gangsta's Paradise".
Below
are some snippets from emails that have been posted by his sister,
Kelly, on "facebook":
"I
currently live in a shack in Koh Samui - it's touristy around here,
which is quite a good thing, but it does feel like a holiday rather
than travelling if you know what I mean! anyway, the Shack (or Bungalow,
as they call it!), I've made myself at home - it's as messy as my
bedroom, give me a room & I'll destroy it!"
"As
for food, I'm doing ok, I went out for a Thai meal last night -
but mostly just finding meals on the cheap, from carts selling pancakes
& that - you can get fed for about 30p here - mad isnt it!"
"Dont
mention spiders....it's only a matter of time until I share a bathroom
with one....I'm sure!"
"I'm
writing from Perth - I absoloutely love it here! It's a beautiful
place, the Hostel is great - I've met a lot of brilliant people
here alone, and had some good laughs with eveyone that I travelled
down with - the only trouble is, it's bloody expensive! I knew I'd
get a shock after spending peanuts in Thailand - but it has hit
pretty hard! I've started looking for work already, I dont need
it desperately, but I guess it's better to start early to prevent
getting into any money problems."

Sherrie
Mundy
Sherrie
was in the first village hall concert and performed several solos
with the group. Here is her biog:
Hi
there!
After finishing school at Upper Avon School (aka Avon Valley College)
I went to Salisbury College where studied a BTEC in Performing Arts,
where I continued my singing in variety shows and musical performances.
I
then went off to the welsh valleys and found myself at the University
of Glamorgan where I studied Drama (Theatre and Media) for 3 years,
spending some time at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama
and finally obtaining a 2:1 degree which I am extremely proud of.
During
my time at university I met my fiancé Peter and we are getting
married in 2011!
I
am on track to finishing my teacher training at Salisbury High School
in July and making the move to Reading in the summer where I will
take up my first teaching post as a teacher of Drama.
My
latest singing was at Salisbury High School’s ‘S’ factor (basically
staff talent show) I sang Fields of Gold and it went down really
well!!
I
would like to thank Wayne and Sue for everything they did, as one
of the original members it was a fantastic opportunity for me and
something I have very fond memories of! Its great to see its still
going strong!
Congrats
on your 10 years!
Sherrie xx
